About the Book
Title: Charlie Builds
Author: Bob Bianchini
Genre: Preschool Board Book
Number of Pages: 20
Publisher: Abrams Appleseed
Publication Date: September 5, 2017
Summary: Charlie and his dad build everything together. They build sandcastles at the beach, they build blocks in Dad’s office, and they even build a doghouse for Rocky and a tree house high above the backyard. But Charlie’s favorite thing to build is a pillow fort where he and Dad can cuddle together. This board book combines the perennial concept of construction with a tender tale about the importance of quality time shared between father and son.
My Review
Charlie Builds is a heartwarming story filled with colorfully detailed illustrations sure to captivate young readers.
Charlie builds castles, bridges, a dog house and more, but the best part is spending time with his dad.
The simple verse flows beautifully from the pages and the vivid and lighthearted images will amuse little ones. This is a wonderful book about the important role a father has in his child's life.
I highly recommend picking up a copy.
About the Author
Bob is a New Jersey native, a New York dad and RISD grad, and although you don't know his work by name, you may have seen it in The New York Times, or on Breaking Bad, or in one of James Franco's Instagrams.
As a writer and illustrator of countless picture books (yet to be published, but fingers crossed) for his 5 year old son, Charlie - Bob is always inspired by the beautiful work of the super-talented artist, Sujean Rim... who just so happens to live in the same house.
